David McDowell currently practices primarily in the area of civil litigation. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University. He received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where he served as the Managing Editor of the University of Memphis Law Review. While in law school, David received the CALI/Dean's Award for Academic Excellence in Copyright, Enrivonmental Law, and Trial Advocacy. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Dean's Distinguished Service Award, ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law, and the Sam A. Myar, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Prior to joining Gearhiser, Peters, Lockaby, Cavett & Elliott, PLLC, David served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable David R. Farmer of the Tennessee Court of Appeals.
