Deborah Lowe Varner, a member of the Firm, concentrates her practice in representing the interests of various businesses in their litigation, assisting with statutory and regulatory compliance, and satisfying their transactional needs. Deborah has extensive experience in the area of commercial construction, representing the interests of general contractors and owners in matters ranging from compliance with mechanics' and materialmen's lien laws to general breach of contract matters. A substantial portion of Deborah's practice has been devoted to representing the interests of major automotive dealership groups located in Tennessee, Georgia and elsewhere. Deborah has helped develop comprehensive plans and documents to assist dealerships in complying with various federal and state statutes and regulations. Deborah has defended dealerships in various consumer disputes, including matters involving the Tennessee Attorney General's office and the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Commission. Deborah has also assisted many businesses with issues arising from the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), including defending employers from actions by employees and insurers, and prosecuting claims for benefits.
Deborah has represented her clients' interests in litigation, mediations and arbitrations in federal and state courts in Tennessee, Georgia, and Kentucky, and has argued before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Deborah and her husband, Chris, currently reside on Signal Mountain with their two children, Anna and Henry.
